Cornerstone Community Church is partnered with Assurance Assembly of God Church in Ajumako, Ghana, Africa to help them with the construction of their church roof.

In 2010, Cornerstone provided funds to construct a 600 seat sanctuary.

The Ghana project was completed in 2015. The Raise the Roof Campaign raised over $20,000. Special thanks to those that gave from Cornerstone Community Church.

Where is
Ajumako, Ghana?

Ghana is located in West Africa.

Ajumako is a village that is located west of Accra, the capital city.

How the project got started

A very dear woman of God and faithful member of Cornerstone went to be with the Lord in January 2009.  Her name was Maybelle Martin.  She and her husband, Harold, served for many years as Missions Directors. Their faithfulness and commitment launched many young missionaries into the field.  At Maybelle's memorial service, Pastor Scott Hoag announced that we would build a church in Africa in Maybelle's memory.

This church plant came to our attention through a couple in our congregation, Steve and Elizabeth Anobil. They are from Ghana and were instrumental in helping this project begin.

In August 2009, Pastor Scott & Michealle traveled to Ghana to solidify the plans for construction.  In February, 2010 we traveled back and saw firsthand how the building was progressing.

On May 31, 2011 we sent a team back to Ghana to help assist in ministry in the village of Ajumako.  The ministry consisted of a children's crusade, a pastor's conference, street evangelism and school rallies. We also held the first Sunday service in the new 600 seat church building.  It was a great celebration!

About Assurance Church

The church was planted in 2003 through the Assemblies of God in Ghana. They began their first church service under a large tree in an open field. As the church grew, they were able to purchase property and build a small open aired building that could seat about 80 people. They are continuing to grow and are presently meeting in their new building that does not have a roof. The church is located in the heart of the village and has become the hub for other Assembly of God churches in surrounding villages to meet. The Pastor’s name is Samuel Boeteng.
